Thanks to "Team Shoebox": Michelle Moss, Gwyneth van Rooyen and Passionate Parenting's customers and friends, OPERATION SHOEBOX 2007 was a great success! More than 350 child-specific, beautifully wrapped Christmas gifts were sent to South African orphans. Most, but not all, the gifts arrived on time. Delighted orphans from Ikageng in Soweto (Johannesburg) and Abraham Kriel Children's Home in Potchefstroom (North West Province) were thrilled with the generous gifts given to them all the way from Holland. The international school of Oegstgeest (ISRLO) motivated by the mum of one student and the team of MYP2 and MYP3 tutors collected 43 gift-filled shoeboxes. These 11 to 13 year old children had to sweep leaves, wash cars and do extra household chores to earn money (to buy these gifts) as part of their community service project. "We were astounded at their enthusiasm and concern for these SA orphans" said a representative from Passionate Parenting. There were also large contributions from a church, another school and one couple gave 22 boxes in their personal capacity. It is amazing how this kind of "hands-on" charity brings out the "giver" in people. Passionate Parenting is desperately looking for a sponsor for shipping these Christmas gifts to SA in 2009. Without a sponsor / donor, Operation Shoebox 2009 can't go through. The all-included cost to ship 350 shoeboxes door-to-door is approximately €3000. Please let us know if you or your (generous) rich friends can help pay for the shipping. Contact Soul at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. I applaud your efforts to organise parenting workshops, it's certainly a very worthy initiative. I … see it as one of the most important preventative steps a community can make towards safeguarding and optimizing the well-being of children.
Another great seminar, clear, practical, professional. It was excellent!more...
