A parent education seminar on "Dialogic Reading"

 Games, sports, schoolwork, social activities: with all this competition for the time and attention of your children, how can you insure that they learn to love reading? Even with so many demands on your time, there is nothing more valuable than sharing a book with your little loved ones. Reading opens up the world of ideas and knowledge to your child and can serve as a lifelong source of pleasure.

Dialogic Reading a very powerful language facilitation method for children, encourages intimate involvement as you share books with your child.  This special type of reading offers tremendous benefits:  Research shows that using Dialogic Reading accelerates vocabulary development and these childrenare less likely to have difficulty learning to read in school.   This practical yet inspirational 90 minute multi-media, interative presentation by Speech & Language therapist, Fiona Curtis, will give you loads of ideas and confidence to involve your child (0-5 years) more deeply in the experience of sharing books and ideas, helping them on the way to a lifelong love of reading. It is well known that the love of reading is directly related to a child’s likely future academic success.

This parent education seminar will be held on Monday morning, June 8th on van Hogenhoucklaan 89, behind Bronovo. There is a "creche" for children 0 – 4 years with experienced and friendly au Pairs. It starts at 9:30am. Cost €25 per person, and half the profits from this event goes to South African Charities.
