Nina has been pregnant and given birth in The Netherlands twice, and admits the experiences weren't all plain sailing. It was particularly difficult for Nina during her first pregnancy and birth, simply because of the cultural differences and the fact that she didn't perservere with finding a midwife who understood these differences. Facing some of these problems a second time around she decided to set up Parenting in Holland. Why? So that other foreign women here wouldn't have to go through the same problems, or at least not to the same degree as she did, with absolutely no information available in English at the time. It was always Nina's intention that Parenting in Holland would be an independent source of information. Most of the original articles on this website were written by Nina and as such contain some personal opinions eg opinions on breastfeeding routines when you're a working mother. Nina holds IBM Certified Advanced Application Developer status, is a certified internet marketer, and owns her own website design and development agency called Dotcom Kiosk. |
I applaud your efforts to organise parenting workshops, it's certainly a very worthy initiative. I … see it as one of the most important preventative steps a community can make towards safeguarding and optimizing the well-being of children.
