Playschools, or Peuterspeelzalen

There are more than 300 childcare centres in The Hague, and 150 of these are playschools, or peuterspeelzalen, often part of a primary school, designed to help children prepare for primary school.
These are usually Dutch, but it is a good opportunity for your child to learn to speak the local language. Very useful if you will be here for more than 3 years!

They offer children from 2.5 to 4 years of age the opportunity for creative play with other children under the supervision of professional teachers several times a week, with a typical group lasting 2.5 hours.
Some peuterspeelzalen will only accept children who are toilet trained.
